Every year, Ganesh Chaturthi brings a wave of joy, creativity and cultural expression. At Dhruva College of Design & Graduate Studies, we celebrate this spirit through one of our most meaningful traditions, the Ganesha Making Workshop. Our students don’t study design, they bring it to life.
Blending Devotion with Design
In this immersive workshop, students roll up their sleeves and sculpt their own idols of Lord Ganesha. They start with concept sketches, drawing inspiration from tradition, personal stories and modern design principles. Then, using eco-friendly materials and techniques, they mold, carve and paint their visions into reality.
Guided by expert faculty and skilled artisans, our students craft each idol with purpose and passion fusing artistic expression with cultural significance.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
This workshop pushes students to apply their design thinking in real, meaningful ways. They explore Indian sculptural traditions, experiment with sustainable materials, and develop a deeper understanding of Lord Ganesha’s symbolic importance.
By working collaboratively, they strengthen their skills in teamwork, time management and attention to detail core values for any designer. Most importantly, they gain confidence in their ability to use creativity to tell powerful cultural stories.
Celebrating Culture and Community
The Ganesha Making Workshop transforms our campus into a vibrant hub of creativity. Students, faculty and visitors gather to admire the evolving creations and support one another’s artistic journeys.
At the end of the workshop, students proudly present their completed idols. Each sculpture tells a unique story of inspiration, effort and growth. It’s a moment of celebration that unites art, culture and community.
Conclusion:
At Dhruva College of Design & Graduate Studies, we believe design education should engage the heart as well as the hands. The Ganesha Making Workshop captures this perfectly, it empowers students to connect with tradition, express themselves artistically and contribute to a sustainable future. As they bring Lord Ganesha to life with their own hands, our students also bring their creativity, dedication and culture into full view.
